Vice President Powertrain & eDrive (Trucks & Buses)
Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Define the strategic direction for the department and align the department strategy with the strategy of MBRDI
  • Define measures to monitor metrics targets & customer satisfaction Index
  • Maximize efficiency & value add to business partner through innovations


  • Evaluate & measure employee satisfaction through surveys
  • Leadership development through feedforward mechanism
  • Identify need for skill development through trainings
  • Attrition to be maintained less than 6%


  • Financial planning for the department
  • Optimum utilization of the resources & budget to meet expectations of BUs
  • Review & maintain published project pricing


  • Create a positive brand image of MBRDI in the R&D network of Daimler Trucks & Buses
  • Business development and process improvement through networking and contacts
  • Develop knowledge channel with external agencies such as universities, educational institutes


  • Support the cultural transformation initiatives & communicate regularly in the department
  • Bring a Can-do mind set & agile approach to business opportunities
  • Empower team to act like owners of the business , entrepreneurial & with a strong sense of urgency
  • Partner with fellow leadership teams, foster strong relationships, robust communication & contribute to a strong culture of accountability

Educational Qualification

Masters or Bachelors of Engineering in Electronics & Communication or comparable qualification


10+ years in the automotive product development domain with robust experience in Powertrain Mechatronics & eDrive development

Special Knowledge

  • Hands on experience on development of Powertrain ECUs for function development and validation

  • Experience on development of eDrive components like eMotor, eAxle, Battery, Charging & control software

  • Know-how on process, methods & tools specific to electronic components

  • Effectively transalate voice of customer into viable business opportunities

  • Mininum 10 years of leadership experience in an engineered product business with a special focus on powertrain electronics

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, compelling leadership, excellent team work & communication skills

  • Preferably have knowledge of relevant automotive regulations, specifically Cyber Security, FOSS and Functional Safety as well as related test equipment requirements & engineering design standards

  • Experience of working with cross-cultural teams & German language skills would be an added advantage
