Principal Software Engineer - Tools and Automation We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join a small, cohesive team responsible for the continual expansion of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) automation tools. We work in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment where our customers are SQA engineers and software developers building leading-edge telecommunications equipment. Our tools are used to test Oracle’s market-leading Session Border Controller (SBC) and related products, which together provide trusted, first-class delivery of next-generation voice, data and unified communications services and applications across IP networks around the world. This may be the job for you if you like a variety of challenges because the work we do is quite varied: Programming with Tcl, Python, Robot Framework, C, Lua, Java, and PHP. Development of tools for testing SIP, DIAMETER, REST, JSON, etc. Implementation of tools in a cloud-based CI/CT environment. Programming interface implementation for 3rd party tools and equipment. Development of an infrastructure for managing equipment and executing automated tests. Database development and maintenance. Expansion and maintenance of test result reporting mechanisms. Day-to-day management of critical linux infrastructure. Development of tools for web testing. Tools documentation, support, and training. The successful candidate will possess a wide ranging knowledge of test automation, tool development, cloud environments, and protocol testing. Preferred qualifications are: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a software development or tools automation role, preferably in data networking and telephony environments with an emphasis on Next Generation IP services. Familiarity with data networking environments. Experience with TCL, Python, Robot Framework, or other test automation scripting languages. Experience deploying cloud-native applications utilizing cloud-native technologies, especially Docker containers & Kubernetes. Experience with Linux, virtualization, and network administration. Experience with networking and IP security protocols, especially IPv4/IPv6, TLS/DTLS, SIP, RTP/RTCP, SRTP, DNS, SNMP, ICE, IPsec/IKE, DNS, L2/L3, LI , and ICMP. Experience with HTTP, REST, and JSON. Experience with MySQL or other databases. Some experience performing functional testing of software across a broad range of next generation IP technologies, including VOIP protocol, internetworking, session replication technologies. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proven track record of fast learning, innovation, strategic thought leadership and teamwork Strong troubleshooting capabilities Experience developing software following Agile and CI/CT processes Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
